The Classic: Winchester M70, Pre-64
Description
The Bansner Classic is made for those looking for traditional styling and a full length forend. There’s no reason fans of classic sporter style stocks need to settle for stocks with lines and edges that look like they spent too much time in the sun and melted. The Classic has crisp, clean lines and defined flutes for a bold and refined look. All the style in the world means little if the stock can’t handle a hard hunt in the back country. Like all of our stocks, The Bansner Classic is constructed of a combination of fiberglass, carbon fiber, and epoxy. This construction produces a resilient, lightweight, weatherproof, and high strength stock.
This model is designed for the pre-1964 version of the Winchester Model 70.
Some Key Features:
- No cartridge limitations (as long as it’s a shoulder-fired cartridge that is!)
- High-strength fill for increased rigidity
- Carbon fiber & fiberglass shell construction
- High-strength, integral, aluminum pillars
- CNC machined inletting for precise fit

A note on stock fit:
Barreled actions should be properly and carefully bedded into their stocks when building a good rifle. It’s not a recommendation so much as a statement of fact. Our stocks are made with this in mind. They’re designed to accommodate factory and some aftermarket components and you’ll find they fit very precisely in most cases, and with just a bit of wiggle room for masking and bedding. Variations in models, production runs, and the installation of aftermarket parts can prevent the stocks from achieving the perfect fit out of the box. While we do our best to ensure an excellent fit across the broadest range of components, we can’t guarantee perfection. For example: you may find that your barrel points more to the left or to the right in the barrel channel. Threads on the action or barrel that wander even slightly (among other issues) can easily cause this and isn’t something we can control. A great solution to this and numerous other problems is bedding. As custom gun makers we carefully bed all of our rifles. In order to get the best fit we recommend you do the same (or have us do it!)
